Session: Impossible to Remember the Number

This new mix is something that I wanted to do a long time ago but I managed to finish it very quickly and this doesn't mean that it's not a good playlist. On the contrary the tracks were very carefully selected.
This particular playlist is totally different from the previous ones. Some might say that is more "commercial". I don't think that it is, but definitely is not so 'underground' compared to the other sessions I have published.
For those wondering about the title, I was highly influenced by something I saw in a concert and it was very, very sentimental. I don't think that I need to say more; the title gives all the information you need. Enjoy!

British Library Sound Archive

Below there is a documentary of the massive Sound Archive of the British Library. Many times in magazines, websites, blogs etc. there are references of sound archives such as William Burroughs and his works in relevance to the wide spectrum of sound art.
However, this documentary gives you the opportunity not only to have an idea of the archive but also the process of collecting the records and also the ethnography of these records.

Merce Cunningham talking about John Cage and David Tudor

Since I became more involved in experimental music, avant-garde, or whatever you want to call it, like many people I was highly influenced by the theories and philosophy of John Cage. Now after all these years whenever I listen not only to his voice, but also other people talking about him I feel very emotional. I was always attracted by the way he was describing the importance of silence and how sounds belong in the silence-noise axis.
So, after this very brief introduction I recently found a video of Merce Cunningham talking about John Cage and David Tudor and their collaborations, but it also contains some excepts of John Cage talking. To view it click here to go to the website.

New session (still unable to remember the number)

After a very long time quite lost in data and the internet I decided to upload some new tracks. What is very noticeable is that the last time I uploaded some tracks it was exactly one year ago!

So one of my inspirations for uploading this playlist was a concert I watched with Tim Hecker  and I have to admit that he really gives a new notion to the very old terminology and meaning of ambient music. It seems that ambient music is no longer just the background music that becomes more noticeable, but Hecker's new album brings forward this music and creates multiple layers of sounds, feelings and imaginary images. However, there are also very nice tracks from Christoph Heemann, the amazing Coil, Chihei Hatakeyama, Fennesz and other fantastic musicians.
